Where these two actually differ
- We flag Fragrance allergens and undisclosed components, Mineral oil respiratory risk (inhalation) and Surface buildup and degradation over time on the Pledge and not on the WD-40.
- We flag Volatile organic compound (VOC) off-gassing, Skin irritation and aspiration risk and Finish degradation on certain wood coatings on the WD-40 and not on the Pledge.
- Both carry a flag for Flammability, so neither choice avoids it.
- The Pledge is mineral oil, argan oil blend where the WD-40 is mineral oil, solvents, propellant spray, which is most of the difference in these two grades.
- These two are level, close enough that price and fit should decide it rather than our grade.
Both products run through the same public rubric: materials, coatings, brand disclosure, lab findings, and recalls, plus a beyond-PFAS hazard analysis. Grades are model-based estimates, not lab tests. How grades work →
