Model-based grades, not lab tests. We flunk more than we pass. How grading works

Does Made In Cookware Contain PFAS?

It depends which line. Made In states directly that its Non Stick and ProCoat pans contain PTFE, FEP and PFA (madeincookware.com/pages/ab-1200), and those grade 5 out of 100 in our data. Made In's Stainless Clad line, which has no nonstick coating, grades 100 on that same disclosure plus a brand PFAS-free statement for the rest of its cookware. Its CeramicLad line grades 70, the same ceiling every ceramic coating in our data hits regardless of brand.

What Made In says, and what it covers

Made In's PFAS-free statement applies to its Stainless Clad and CeramicLad cookware. It does not apply to the Non Stick and ProCoat lines, which Made In discloses separately as containing PTFE, FEP and PFA. That is an unusually clear split, most brands either disclose nothing or make one blanket claim.

Why the three Made In lines grade so differently

Every grade here is a model-based estimate built from public disclosures, not a lab test we commissioned. Stainless Clad has no coating and a brand PFAS-free statement, which takes it to 100. CeramicLad has a named ceramic coating plus the same statement, which lands at 70, the same rule that caps GreenPan and HexClad at 70 despite similar claims. Non Stick and ProCoat name PTFE, FEP and PFA directly, which is a confirmed fluoropolymer coating and grades 5, the same as any other brand that discloses PTFE.

If you want to avoid PTFE

Made In's own Stainless Clad line is the straightforward choice from the same brand. Compare it against other uncoated and ceramic cookware in our cookware finder.

FAQ

Is all Made In cookware PFAS-free?

No. Made In's Stainless Clad and CeramicLad lines carry a PFAS-free statement, but its Non Stick and ProCoat pans are disclosed by Made In itself as containing PTFE, FEP and PFA.

Why does CeramicLad grade 70 and not 100 if Made In makes the same statement?

A ceramic coating is still a coating in our model, which caps the grade at 70 even with a brand PFAS-free statement. Only an uncoated product with that statement reaches 100.

Is Made In's PFAS-free claim independently verified?

We record it as a brand statement. We found no third-party certification behind it, which is why it earns a claim credit rather than the larger credit a certification would add.
