Model-based grades, not lab tests. We flunk more than we pass. How grading works
Which T-fal Pans Contain PTFE?
T-fal publishes a list of PTFE-containing cookware ranges to comply with Minnesota's disclosure law (t-fal.com/aboutnonstick). Its classic nonstick lines, including Ultimate Hard Anodized, Professional and Simply Cook, are on that list. T-fal's ceramic lines, like Ceramic Excellence and ProCeramic, are not on it, but T-fal has made no separate PFAS statement for them either, so both groups still grade low in our data, 5 for the PTFE-confirmed lines and 15 for the ceramic ones.
What T-fal's list covers, and what it doesn't
The Minnesota list names specific PTFE ranges by product line. Being absent from that list means T-fal hasn't listed a product as containing PTFE. It is not the same as T-fal stating the product is PFAS-free, and we found no such statement for T-fal's ceramic cookware.
Why the two T-fal groups still both grade low
Every grade here is a model-based estimate built from public disclosures, not a lab test we commissioned. T-fal's PTFE-listed pans, from the Stone Force Platinum line to its griddles, woks and saucepans, are recorded as PTFE nonstick coating, as disclosed by T-fal for this range, which grades 5. T-fal's ceramic lines, including its 18-piece and 20-piece ceramic sets, carry an undisclosed coating with no PFAS statement, which grades 15, better than the PTFE line only because the chemistry isn't confirmed, not because T-fal has said otherwise.
T-fal's stainless steel pressure cookers, which have no nonstick coating, grade 75 in our data.
If you want to avoid PTFE
T-fal's stainless steel pressure cookers avoid the coating question entirely. For a nonstick pan with an actual brand statement behind it, compare against GreenPan or Made In's ceramic lines in our cookware finder.
FAQ
Are T-fal's ceramic pans PFAS-free?
We found no PFAS-free statement from T-fal for its ceramic lines. They are simply absent from the Minnesota PTFE list, which is a narrower fact than a PFAS-free claim.
How do I know if a specific T-fal pan contains PTFE?
Check T-fal's own Minnesota disclosure list at t-fal.com/aboutnonstick, or look up the specific product in our PFAS product finder.
Does a low grade mean T-fal cookware is unsafe?
No. It reflects a confirmed or undisclosed nonstick coating, not a finding about how the pan performs in normal use.
