Does Fitbit water-resistant smart rings & bands have PFAS?
We graded 10 Fitbit water-resistant smart rings & bands products, averaging Excellent (76/100). 8 of them grade Good or better. Against the other 11 water-resistant smart rings & bands brands we grade, where the middle brand sits at 85/100, Fitbit is worse than typical.
PFAS Authority is a scoring system, not a laboratory. We do not test products ourselves. Grades are model-based, built from published ingredients, materials, certifications, brand disclosures and third-party lab results where they exist. See the rubric.
What Fitbit says and does about PFAS
We found no PFAS policy published by Fitbit itself. Most Fitbit devices describe their bands only as a flexible, lightweight silicone material, which Android Authority called a vague description. Google, which owns Fitbit, has said it proactively limits PFAS in its products, and its supplier chemical specification caps PFHxA, one type of PFAS, at 25 ppb in all materials.

- Brand statementGoogle told Android Central it proactively limits PFAS in its products and is committed to minimizing PFAS beyond what is required by law. Android Central ↗
