Where these two actually differ
- We flag Heavy metal accumulation in natural latex and Latex allergy sensitization on the Avocado and not on the Tempur-Pedic.
- We flag Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from foam and coatings, PFAS in moisture-wicking barrier, Formaldehyde-releasing resins in fabric finish and Chemical sensitivity and long-term offgassing on the Tempur-Pedic and not on the Avocado.
- The Avocado is organic cotton, natural latex, coconut coir, recycled steel coils where the Tempur-Pedic is Memory foam core with fabric cover and moisture-wicking treatment, which is most of the difference in these two grades.
- The gap is 70 points, wide enough that this is not a close call, and the Avocado is the one to buy.
- We are less certain about the Tempur-Pedic grade, at 45% confidence against 82%, because it discloses less.
Both products run through the same public rubric, which covers materials, coatings, brand disclosure, lab findings, and recalls, plus a beyond-PFAS hazard analysis. Grades are model-based estimates, not lab tests. How grades work →
