Where these two actually differ
- We flag Azo dyes in polyester textiles and Microplastic shedding from fill and cover on the Blazing Needles and not on the Ethan Allen.
- We flag PFAS in DWR finish, Azo dyes and colorfast stability, Microplastic shedding from polyester and Formaldehyde-based resins in finish on the Ethan Allen and not on the Blazing Needles.
- The Blazing Needles is Polyester fill with polyester cover where the Ethan Allen is Outdoor striped fabric, likely polyester with DWR finish, which is most of the difference in these two grades.
- The gap is 40 points, wide enough that this is not a close call, and the Blazing Needles is the one to buy.
- We are less certain about the Ethan Allen grade, at 45% confidence against 72%, because it discloses less.
Both products run through the same public rubric, which covers materials, coatings, brand disclosure, lab findings, and recalls, plus a beyond-PFAS hazard analysis. Grades are model-based estimates, not lab tests. How grades work →
