PFAS Authority is a scoring system, not a laboratory. We do not test products ourselves. Grades are model-based, built from published ingredients, materials, certifications, brand disclosures and third-party lab results where they exist. See the rubric.

What Crest says and does about PFAS
We found no PFAS statement from Crest or its owner Procter & Gamble on its toothpaste. The only independent PFAS evidence we found naming Crest is a 2019 screening that flagged Crest Glide Deep Clean Cool Mint Floss for organic fluorine, and a P&G spokesperson said the safety of its floss stands. We found no test, lawsuit or agency action naming Crest toothpaste for PFAS.
- Independent testA study reported by BuzzFeed News screened floss for fluorine and flagged Crest Glide Deep Clean Cool Mint Floss among several brands. Fluorine screening is an indicator, not proof of specific PFAS. BuzzFeed News ↗
- Brand statementA Procter & Gamble spokesperson, whose company owns Crest, responded to the floss findings by saying it stands by the safety of its products. BuzzFeed News ↗
Sources checked September 29, 2026. A brand statement is the company’s own claim, which we report but have not verified. Our grades are model-based estimates, not lab tests.
