Where these two actually differ
- We flag PFAS in water-resistant coating (graded separately above), Coating degradation and unknown leachables and Microbiological growth (internal tube) on the Straws PAPER and not on the Yocup.
- We flag Ink migration from printed stripes, Pulp degradation and fiber shedding and Mold or bacterial growth if stored improperly on the Yocup and not on the Straws PAPER.
- The Straws PAPER is paper with water-resistant coating (composition unspecified) where the Yocup is Paper (unwrapped, uncoated), which is most of the difference in these two grades.
- The gap is 45 points, wide enough that this is not a close call, and the Yocup is the one to buy.
- We are less certain about the Straws PAPER grade, at 45% confidence against 82%, because it discloses less.
Both products run through the same public rubric, which covers materials, coatings, brand disclosure, lab findings, and recalls, plus a beyond-PFAS hazard analysis. Grades are model-based estimates, not lab tests. How grades work →
