Where these two actually differ
- We flag Azo dyes and residual dye chemicals, Antimony catalyst residue in polyester fiber, Heavy metals in pigments (if color treatment used) and Microplastic shedding from wear on the Crate and Barrel and not on the Pottery Barn.
- We flag Formaldehyde resins in textile finishing, Azo dyes and heavy metal colorants and Dye migration or bleeding onto skin or other fabrics on the Pottery Barn and not on the Crate and Barrel.
- The Crate and Barrel is 100% polyester fabric, likely uncoated where the Pottery Barn is 100% cotton textile, no stated coating, which is most of the difference in these two grades.
- These two are level, close enough that price and fit should decide it rather than our grade.
Both products run through the same public rubric, which covers materials, coatings, brand disclosure, lab findings, and recalls, plus a beyond-PFAS hazard analysis. Grades are model-based estimates, not lab tests. How grades work →
