Does HexClad cookware have PFAS?
HexClad cookware averages 70 out of 100 on PFAS Authority's PFAS and toxin screen across the 7 HexClad cookware products graded as of October 2026, above the 15 out of 100 median for the 46 other cookware brands graded alongside it.
HexClad cookware averages Good on our four-band scale. 7 of the 7 we graded are worth buying. That is above 88% of the cookware brands we grade.
PFAS Authority is a scoring system, not a laboratory. We do not test products ourselves. Grades are model-based, built from published ingredients, materials, certifications, brand disclosures and third-party lab results where they exist. See the rubric.
What HexClad says and does about PFAS
HexClad settled a California class action that alleged it marketed its hybrid pans as free of PFOA and PFAS while they were coated with PTFE. Under the settlement, which covers purchases from February 2022 through March 2024, HexClad agreed to pay $2.5 million and to stop marketing any product containing PTFE or other PFAS as non-toxic, while denying any wrongdoing. A settlement tracking site reports final approval in March 2026. HexClad’s current FAQ describes a newer coating, TerraBond, as PTFE-free and PFAS-free, which is the brand’s own claim rather than an independent test.
