PFAS in Bundt Pans, Le Creuset, Nordic Ware, Wilton and Calphalon Graded
We graded 16 Bundt and cake pans. The best grades belong to three Le Creuset enameled cast iron pans and a Nordic Ware formed aluminum pan, all at 65 out of 100 with no non-stick coating on record. Nordic Ware's non-stick Bundt pans grade 40 on a brand PFAS-free claim. Eight non-stick pans from Wilton, Calphalon and others grade 15, because their coating is not named and their makers say nothing about PFAS.

How we graded these
Every grade here is a model-based estimate built from publicly available product information and manufacturer disclosures, not a lab test performed by our team. A high score means lower concern based on reviewed sources, never PFAS-free and never safe. Across the 14 pans the spread is four at 65, two at 40 and eight at 15. Look up any pan in our PFAS product finder.
Enameled cast iron at the top
The Le Creuset pans are enameled cast iron. Vitreous enamel is glass fused to iron, not a fluorinated coating and not a non-stick layer. Le Creuset publishes no PFAS statement for these pans, so they carry the penalty for that and grade 65. Until 17 September 2026 two of them showed 75, because their records had been given the bare metal credit that enameled cast iron elsewhere in our data does not carry. We corrected that.
Nordic Ware at 65 and 40
Nordic Ware describes its non-stick bakeware as made without PFAS. Our model records that as a brand claim, unverified, and credits it. The Original and ProCast Bundt pans still grade 40, because their listings in our records do not name the coating's chemistry, and an unnamed non-stick coating is the heaviest factor a pan without a named fluoropolymer can carry.
The 12 Cup Formed Bundt Pan is recorded as formed cast aluminum with no coating, which is why it grades 65. Check the listing you are buying from, because if it describes a non-stick finish, it belongs with the other two.
A correction to this guide
An earlier version of this guide put the Le Creuset pans at 80 and 90 and graded Nordic Ware's non-stick pans 15 as if Nordic Ware said nothing about PFAS. Both were wrong. The Le Creuset records had skipped the silence penalty every other silent brand carries, and our records had missed Nordic Ware's published statement. We corrected both on 16 September 2026.
What to avoid
- Non-stick Bundt and cake pans whose coating type is not named and whose maker says nothing about PFAS. That is eight of the 14 here, including every Calphalon pan we graded.
- Assuming a brand decides it. Nordic Ware has pans at 65 and at 40.
- Heating an empty non-stick pan, or using metal tools that scratch the coating.
For other baking surfaces, see our baking mats and parchment guide and the cast iron skillets guide.
Our pick
Based on available materials and data, we would choose the Le Creuset Fluted Cake Pan at 65 out of 100, enameled cast iron with no non-stick coating to wear. If you want a lighter aluminum pan, the Nordic Ware 12 Cup Formed Bundt Pan at 65 has no coating on record, so grease and flour it well. These grades are estimates built from disclosed materials, not laboratory proof, and nothing here is being called PFAS-free or safe by us.
FAQ
Do Bundt pans contain PFAS?
Ten of the 14 we graded have a non-stick coating. Eight name neither the coating nor any PFAS position. Two Nordic Ware pans carry a brand PFAS-free claim we have not verified. The four best-graded pans are enameled cast iron or plain aluminum with no coating recorded.
Is the Nordic Ware Bundt pan PFAS-free?
Nordic Ware says its non-stick bakeware is made without PFAS. We record that as an unverified brand claim. The non-stick Original and ProCast pans grade 40 because the coating chemistry is not named in our records, and the uncoated Formed Bundt Pan grades 65.
Is Le Creuset enameled cast iron PFAS-free?
Vitreous enamel is glass, not a fluorinated material, and the Le Creuset pans we graded have no non-stick coating on record. Le Creuset has no PFAS statement on record for them, so they grade 65 rather than higher.
Are Calphalon Bundt pans non-toxic?
We grade PFAS concern, not overall toxicity. Every Calphalon cake and Bundt pan we graded has a non-stick coating of unstated type and grades 15, and Calphalon has no PFAS statement on record for them.
