PFAS Authority is a scoring system, not a laboratory. We do not test products ourselves. Grades are model-based, built from published ingredients, materials, certifications, brand disclosures and third-party lab results where they exist. See the rubric.
What Pelican says and does about PFAS
Pelican publishes no PFAS statement and does not say what its gaskets are made of. It identifies the case body as copolymer polypropylene, which is not fluorinated, but describes the watertight seal only as a polymer o-ring without naming the elastomer, so its own disclosure cannot settle the question either way. The one substance compliance document we could read covers six restricted metals and flame retardants and says nothing about PFAS.
- MaterialsPelican describes its Protector Case range as injection moulded copolymer polypropylene, which is not a fluorinated plastic. Pelican, via Internet Archive snapshot ↗
- MaterialsPelican says the watertight seal comes from a tongue-and-groove fit with a polymer o-ring. It does not name the elastomer, so the disclosure does not show whether the seal is fluorinated. Pelican, via Internet Archive snapshot ↗
- Regulatory filingThe substance compliance statement Pelican publishes covers the six RoHS restricted substances, which are lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and two families of brominated flame retardants. It makes no PFAS claim either way. Pelican Products, RoHS statement ↗
