What NARS says and does about PFAS
We found no PFAS statement from NARS. NARS was among the makeup brands sampled in a 2021 Notre Dame study that found high fluorine in many cosmetics, but the study did not say which brands had PFAS in their products.
- StudyA 2021 University of Notre Dame study tested cosmetics and found 29 high fluorine products contained between four and 13 specific PFAS. Only one of those items listed PFAS on its label. The university release does not name brands. University of Notre Dame News ↗
- StudyEcoWatch reports NARS was among the brands tested in that study, and that the study did not reveal which brands had PFAS in their products. EcoWatch ↗
- Independent testMamavation lists NARS among the brands included in the same study. Being included does not mean a NARS product tested positive. Mamavation ↗
- StudyThe study lead said the results point to widespread PFAS use in cosmetics overall, and that the full extent is hard to estimate because labeling rules are weak. University of Notre Dame News ↗
