What the evidence says about PFAS in silicone baking molds

Minnesota’s PFAS law counts baking sheets and baking molds as cookware and has banned cookware with intentionally added PFAS since January 2025. Maine’s ban, which covers baking sheets, took effect in January 2026, and Vermont’s follows in July 2028. The US FDA says PFAS-based grease-proofing substances are no longer sold for food contact use in the US, and that negligible amounts of PFAS migrate from nonstick coatings. In Mamavation’s lab screening, most parchment papers showed no detectable fluorine, but two did.
