WD-40 grades Good on our four-band scale.
PFAS Authority is a scoring system, not a laboratory. We do not test products ourselves. Grades are model-based, built from published ingredients, materials, certifications, brand disclosures and third-party lab results where they exist. See the rubric.
What WD-40 says and does about PFAS
WD-40 has published PFAS statements. Its UK arm says it is reformulating and removing PFAS from affected products, and its US safety data sheet names a Dry Lube product as made with PTFE. WD-40 says it has since created a Dry Lubricant that does not contain PTFE. We found no independent lab test, lawsuit or state disclosure naming WD-40 and PFAS. The multi-use spray products we grade are not the PTFE products, so those grades rest on the brand's published ingredient descriptions.
