The Replacement Filter
Skip until Jolie discloses filter composition and PFAS testing.
Jolie's replacement filters provide no public material disclosure or PFAS statements. Standard activated-carbon filters carry lower inherent PFAS risk than coated products, but the absence of transparency about media source, binders, and third-party testing raises concerns for a water-filtration product where ingredient clarity matters.

What The Replacement Filter is made of, ingredients and materials
Jolie replacement filters use activated carbon as the primary filtration medium, which is the industry standard for chlorine, odor, and taste removal in faucet-mount systems. Activated carbon itself is inert and does not leach harmful substances into water under normal use. The filter housing material (typically polypropylene or similar food-grade plastic) contacts water directly, so any degradation or off-gassing would occur in this component rather than the carbon media itself.
What’s concerning
No PFAS disclosure
No public statement from the brand about PFAS in this product.
Bacterial growth in unmaintained filter cartridge
All activated carbon faucet filters can develop biofilm if not replaced on schedule. Jolie does not appear to use silver-ion or other antimicrobial additives in its cartridges based on available product descriptions; regular replacement is critical to prevent pathogenic bacteria colonization.
Inadequate contaminant removal if filter is saturated or poorly fitted
Generic risk, if cartridge is not installed correctly or is overdue for replacement, contaminants including chlorine byproducts and sediment bypass the filter. Jolie's lack of certified testing makes it unclear how much protection this filter actually provides relative to claims.
PFAS
Activated carbon removes some PFAS, but effectiveness varies widely depending on carbon type, contact time, and water chemistry. Jolie has not disclosed whether its filter is specifically designed for PFAS reduction or tested against PFOA/PFOS; this is a critical gap given PFAS prevalence in U.S. drinking water.

Base material not linked to PFAS
The main material recorded for this product is not one associated with PFAS.
Housing plastic leachables (polypropylene or similar)
Food-grade plastics used in faucet-mount housings are not known to leach BPA or phthalates under cold water contact. No recalls or incidents specific to Jolie filters have been reported, but long-term exposure to degraded plastic in high-temperature or acidic water could theoretically increase leaching risk.
Microplastics
Activated carbon itself does not shed microplastics under normal use. However, if the cartridge housing cracks or the carbon media becomes fragmented, fine particles could pass into drinking water; regular inspection at replacement helps catch this.

The brand's record and disclosure
Jolie has not published detailed specifications on filter composition, activated carbon source, or PFAS reduction testing on its website or third-party certifications reviewed. The brand does not carry NSF or WQA certifications that would independently verify contaminant removal claims. This silence on water quality testing and material sourcing is problematic in a category where transparency about what your filter removes is essential to consumer trust.
How it compares in its category
Activated carbon faucet filters are widely used and generally reliable for chlorine reduction; Jolie's design is conventional. However, competitors like Brita and PUR publish NSF certifications and specific contaminant reduction percentages. Jolie's lack of third-party verification puts it at a disadvantage and makes it harder to assess actual performance against alternatives with published testing data.
If you buy it
Replace the filter every 2-3 months or after 100 gallons, whichever comes first; follow Jolie's replacement schedule to prevent bacterial growth and carbon saturation. Do not use with water temperatures above 100F (38C) as this may stress the housing. Rinse the filter under cold tap water before installation. If water taste, odor, or flow degradation occurs before the scheduled replacement, change it immediately.
