PFAS Free Products List, the Best-Graded Products by Category

This is our list of the best-graded products in each category we cover, with the reason behind each grade. We never call a product PFAS-free ourselves, so read it as a list of products with the strongest evidence on record, whether that is a certification that restricts PFAS, a published lab result, an uncoated material, or a brand statement we have not verified.

The strongest evidence is a certification or a lab result. The weakest is a brand statement on a coated product. The table shows which is which.

How we graded these

Every grade here is a model-based estimate built from publicly available product information and manufacturer disclosures, not a lab test performed by our team. A high score means lower concern based on reviewed sources, never PFAS-free and never safe. A published lab result with no fluorine detected counts most, a certification that restricts PFAS next, then a brand statement. An uncoated material earns a credit, and any coating counts against a product even when the brand makes a statement about it. Browse any category in our PFAS product finder.

Kitchen

For cookware, uncoated clad stainless steel from Heritage Steel and Made In grades 100, bare cast iron like Lodge grades 75, and ceramic non-stick from GreenPan, Our Place, Caraway and HexClad grades 70. All-Clad, T-fal and Made In disclose PTFE in their non-stick lines, which grade 5. Our cookware guide and bakeware guide have the full picture.

For parchment, If You Care grades 90 on a brand statement and a 2021 Mamavation lab result with no fluorine detected. For disposable plates and containers, BPI Certified Compostable products from Eco-Products, Vegware, Karat, Matter and Total Home grade up to 100, because BPI limits total organic fluorine.

Water

Almost every water filter grades 95 or 100 on its materials, and that grade does not measure PFAS removal. For removal, look for certification to NSF/ANSI 53 or 58 for PFOA and PFOS. ZeroWater, Brita Elite, LifeStraw Home and AquaTru each say specific filters of theirs are certified. Our water filters guide explains the difference.

Personal care

Period care has some of the strongest evidence on record, with Natracare on MADE SAFE, Seventh Generation tampons on a published lab result, and Aisle and Modibodi period underwear on brand statements plus lab results. For deodorant, Primally Pure and Each & Every grade 100. Oral-B says its Glide floss is no longer made with PTFE. All 201 sunscreens and 182 shampoos we graded sit at 75, so the ingredient list is the better guide there. See our sunscreen guide.

Outdoor and home

Avocado mattresses grade 100 on MADE SAFE. Klean Kanteen bottles grade up to 100 on stainless steel and a brand statement. Swix ski waxes grade 100 on Swix's statement that it stopped selling PFAS-containing waxes to the mass market. Patagonia says its new products from Spring 2025 are made without intentionally added PFAS, and its water-repellent gear grades 45 because a treatment is still recorded.

A correction to this page

An earlier version of this page listed Lola, Modibodi and ZeroWater at 100 and ranked water filters by our grade as if it measured removal. Several of those grades rested on certifications and claims our records had attributed without a source. On 16 and 17 September 2026 we checked every claim and certification, corrected the grades, and rewrote this list.

What to avoid

  • Treating PFAS-free on a label as proof. It is the brand's statement.
  • Non-stick products whose coating is not named. Those are the lowest grades in most kitchen categories.
  • Reading a water filter's grade as a measure of what it removes.

Our pick

Based on available materials and data, the products with the strongest evidence on this list are the ones backed by a certification or a published lab result, such as Natracare Organic Pads, Primally Pure Deodorant and Avocado mattresses. For the kitchen, uncoated stainless steel and cast iron avoid the coating question altogether. These grades are estimates built from disclosed materials, not laboratory proof, and nothing here is being called PFAS-free or safe by us.

FAQ

What products are PFAS-free?

We do not call any product PFAS-free. The best-graded products in our data have a certification that restricts PFAS, a published lab result with no fluorine detected, or no coating at all, and they are listed above.

Is there a certification for PFAS-free products?

MADE SAFE and EWG Verified both restrict PFAS, and BPI Certified Compostable limits total organic fluorine in food packaging. For water filters, NSF/ANSI 53 and 58 cover PFOA and PFOS reduction, which is a different question.

Which brands disclose PFAS?

All-Clad, T-fal and Made In disclose PTFE in their non-stick cookware, and Le Creuset does for its Toughened Non-stick PRO line. See what brands do not have PFAS for the full breakdown.
