PFAS in Bakeware, 162 Sheet Pans, Dishes and Liners Graded

We graded 162 baking sheets, cake pans, baking dishes and liners from Wilton, Reynolds, Glad, Oneida, LloydPans, Anolon, OXO, All-Clad, Nordic Ware, USA Pan, Caraway, GreenPan, Le Creuset, Staub, Vollrath and others. 99 of them grade 15 out of 100, because they carry a non-stick coating the maker does not name and no PFAS statement.

The better grades come from two directions. Plain stainless steel, bare aluminum, enameled cast iron, glazed ceramic and silicone, 33 products in all, grade 65 to 75 with no non-stick coating on record. And 14 coated pans from USA Pan, Caraway and GreenPan grade 70, because each brand names its coating and says it is made without PFAS.

How we graded these

Every grade here is a model-based estimate built from publicly available product information and manufacturer disclosures, not a lab test performed by our team. A high score means lower concern based on reviewed sources, never PFAS-free and never safe. Across the 152 products the spread is two at 75, 14 at 70, 31 at 65, two at 40, 98 at 15 and five at 5. No bakeware brand here holds a third-party PFAS-free certification that we could confirm. Look up any pan in our PFAS product finder.

Why most non-stick bakeware grades 15

A non-stick baking sheet releases cookies because of a coating, and for most of the 99 pans at 15 the listing says only non-stick. Wilton, Reynolds, Glad, Oneida, LloydPans, Anolon, OXO, Ekco, Meyer and others sell pans described that way, with no coating named and no PFAS statement. Our model cannot tell whether such a coating is PTFE, silicone or ceramic, so it grades all of them the same. That is not a finding that they contain PFAS.

Three brands that name the coating

USA Pan says its Americoat coating is a silicone that is PTFE, PFOA, PFOS, PFAS and BPA free, and four USA Pan pans and sets grade 70 on that statement. Caraway says its ceramic non-stick coating is made without PTFE, PFOA and PFAS, and four Caraway baking sheets grade 70. GreenPan says its Thermolon coated food contact surface is free of PFAS, including PTFE and PFOA, and six GreenPan pans grade 70.

Each 70 is the bakeware baseline of 30, plus 10 because a coating is still a coating, minus 10 for the brand's statement, which we record as unverified. Nordic Ware says all of its nonstick coatings are made without PFAS, but its two non-stick pans here do not name the coating, so they keep the larger penalty for an unnamed non-stick and grade 40.

Uncoated bakeware, 65 to 75

Stainless steel sheets from Revere and Mirro grade 75, with no coating on record. Bare aluminum sheet pans from Vollrath and LloydPans, enameled cast iron from Le Creuset and Staub, glazed ceramic dishes from Staub and silicone baking mats and pans from Amazon Basics, Hamilton Beach and Calphalon grade 65. The ten points between them come from our model giving bare stainless steel its largest material credit, and a smaller one to aluminum, enamel, glaze and silicone. None of those materials is fluorinated.

A commercial aluminum sheet pan is also what most professional kitchens use. It will need parchment or grease, and it browns well.

The four at 5

The T-fal Simply Cook Nonstick Roaster is from a range T-fal lists among its products containing PTFE, and a vintage Revere Teflon sheet names Teflon on the listing. Both grade 5, the bottom of our scale, as do two All-Clad Pro-Release pans. All-Clad says its nonstick contains PTFE, and Pro-Release is its nonstick bakeware.

A correction to this guide

Between 16 and 17 September 2026 we regraded bakeware and rewrote this guide. Three Caraway baking sheets moved from 90 to 70, because their records gave a material credit instead of counting Caraway's ceramic coating. Four USA Pan pans moved to 70 on USA Pan's published Americoat statement, one of them from 5, where our records had wrongly described the coating as PTFE. An Oneida textured loaf pan recorded as bare carbon steel at 75 moved to 15, because Oneida sells that pan with a non-stick coating. Le Creuset and Staub enameled cast iron that showed 75 moved to 65, the same grade as the rest of the enameled cast iron in our data, and two All-Clad Pro-Release pans moved from 15 to 5 on All-Clad's own PTFE disclosure.

What to avoid

• Non-stick bakeware whose coating is not named and whose brand says nothing about PFAS. That is 99 of 152 here.
• Bakeware from a line the maker discloses as PTFE, if avoiding fluoropolymers is your aim.
• Scrubbing a coated sheet with steel wool. Coating wear is the recorded concern for any non-stick surface.
• Reading 15 as proof of PFAS. It reflects a coating nobody names.

Based on available materials and data, for cookies and sheet pan dinners we would choose a plain stainless steel sheet such as the Revere Ware Stainless Steel Cooking Sheet at 75 out of 100, or a bare aluminum sheet like the LloydPans aluminum sheet pan at 65 with parchment. If you want non-stick release, the USA Pan Half Sheet Pan at 70 has a named silicone coating and a brand PFAS statement. These grades are estimates built from disclosed materials, not laboratory proof, and nothing here is being called PFAS-free or safe by us.

FAQ

Does non-stick bakeware contain PFAS?

Most non-stick bakeware we graded does not say what its coating is, so our data cannot confirm either way. Those 99 pans grade 15. Pans from USA Pan, Caraway and GreenPan name their coatings and carry brand PFAS statements, and grade 70.

Is USA Pan bakeware PFAS-free?

USA Pan says its Americoat coating is a silicone that is PTFE, PFOA, PFOS, PFAS and BPA free. Its pans grade 70 on that statement, which we have not verified. We do not call any product PFAS-free ourselves.

Is Caraway bakeware PFAS-free?

Caraway says its ceramic non-stick coating is made without PTFE, PFOA and PFAS. Its baking sheets grade 70 in our data. We found no third-party certification for Caraway, so the statement stays unverified.

What bakeware has no coating at all?

Plain stainless steel, bare aluminum sheet pans, glass, glazed ceramic and enameled cast iron have no non-stick coating. In our data stainless sheets grade 75 and aluminum, enameled and ceramic bakeware grade 65.

Is silicone bakeware a PFAS concern?

Silicone is not a fluorinated material, and the silicone baking mats and pans in our data grade 65 with no coating on record. Their makers have no PFAS statement on record, which is why they stop there.
